Bio

Tatyana Jacques working on her studio

My name is Tatyana Jacques. I am a composer and sound designer. Currently, I am also developing skills as a programmer.I live in Florianopolis, a city in the South of Brazil.

I have been working with music for more than 20 years. I've had different kinds of experiences, with different musical styles and genres: I played cello in orchestras and string quartets; I played piano, keyboard and cello in rock, experimental music, variety and MPB groups. I also gave music lessons and developed research in Anthropology of Music and Musicology.

I have a degree in Piano from the University of the State of Santa Catarina (UDESC) and completed a Post-Doctorate in Musicology at that same university. I have a Master and PhD in Social Anthropology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. In the academic world, my research has always revolved around topics such as rock in Brazil; music production; music, image and imaginary; and sound in cinema.

It was my interest in music production that led me to the world of digital games. I have been working with audio for games since 2019 and created music and/or sound effects for more than 40 games, most of them released on Steam, but some released on consoles such as Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PS4, PS5 or other platforms such as Google Play. In some of these games, we have used FMOD middleware to implement audio.

I consider myself a curious and creative person that loves studying and always need to learn new things. That’s why my work with audio for games has encouraged me to learn programming in languages such as JavaScript, C and C#. Therefore, with the aim of deepening my knowledge, I am currently studying to get a degree in Systems Analysis and Development at Claretiano College.
